What are some of the going values for recent purchases of whatever model Calico that you own?
I used to be a dealer and bought a few Liberties sometime 10-15 years ago. They cost me roughly $500-$600 each, would have to find the invoice to know for sure.
I bought them after selling off all my HK's after the prices started skyrocketing when that bum Clinton got elected. I bought the Calico's because they seemed awesome technically and I thought they represented a good shot at making $$! Well here it is years later. I sold or traded the 2 others I had to friends for pretty much what I paid for them. I still have mine. I have a bunch of mags 50 and 100 which I have taken to shows from time to time but they haven't exactly moved out the door! Now I'm not looking for any buyers at this time for my mags or otherwise, just wondering what your thoughts are as to why the Calico's never took off big time in price.
For example a typical HK that cost me anywhere from 400-600 sold for $2.5 - $3.5k quickly once the boom was on. Obviously theres something to the allure of german made firearms just like their cars. But the Calico is a pretty sexy looking weapon too. Maybe, its the all aluminum frame and kinda cheaper looking riveted work. Maybe its the name itself with its toy store like label. Does Calico model MP sound better than Liberty I or II?
Instead of Calico would the entire gun sound better as the maybe Browning MP model I? Nothing like a fancier brand to up the value of something.
