hey guys, i remember being a kid, looking through an armaments book and seeing the Calico m960 in the submachine guns section - it was love at first sight! - back then i admired it just for being so different and innovative, but now i see just how superior the idea of a helical feed system can be
now I'm 18 and still a kid, but getting to the age where I'm allowed to do more than just admire guns from a distance. [growing up with a paranoid mom didn't help either] - my admiration for weapons of all kinds seemed to frighten her at times, but soon I'll be free to explore!
Its been a while and I have still not had the opportunity to grasp the hilt of a Calico.- I look forward to the day i finally get to meet one, unless IT happens all over again...*knocks on wood*
I guess it kind of makes me a poser for posting here when i don't even own one, but Calico is clearly the stuff.
In any event, I'm glad to see that Calico survived the clinton gun ban and is back for more action! _________________ "Remember that a government that is big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take away everything you have"

Just make certain that niether you nor any of your friends/relations vote for Shrillary Clinton or the ban WILL return, she said as much during her campaign.
At 18 you can get any of the carbines in most states other than California...the pistols will have to wait until you are 21
For a Class III machine gun license you'll also have to wait a bit...and keep your record cleaner than the proverbial whistle. Good Luck!! _________________ I'd rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6 |

| The Calico I have was bought used during the foolish ban. This is the only weapon I feel ok about leaving a full clip loaded and ready. The firepower is awesome. 100 .22 rounds takes a while to go thru. I have heard people say that this weapons jams, doesnt load, and plenty of other stupid remarks from so called Gun dealers. These are also the same people that cringe when you ask about a class 2 weapon. once and for all load the clip ,crank it up ,(13 clicks for mine) and enjoy 100rnds with 0 malfuntions and no reloading. I have over 3000rnds of trouble free, jam free shooting. not to mention the untold amount that went thru it before i got it. I own many weapons and I will say this, the only fault is aiming. so be sure to get the rear sight or scope mount. To the makers of these advanced weapons-please offer a 5.7 caliber FN is on to something but the weapon is awkeward and hard for one handed operations. Also a laser sight that fits in the front sight triangle would be a good idea. |

Like you, I long dreamed of a Calico after seeing a picture of one as a kid.
About 2 weeks ago I walked out of the local gun store about a full thousand dollars lighter and one Calico Liberty III 9mm pistol heavier. After years of wanting one, I half expected to be let down by the little pistol, but honestly, I can't say that. It is a phenomenal firearm in every sense of the word. Accurate, reliable, albeit a bit on the large side to be a "pistol" in the truest sense.
I'd recommend chasing your dream. Except watch out - up until I got mine, I have only ever even seen one other Calico in person. They're rare and I did pay a premium for mine. Figured it was worth the ability to walk with it that very day I saw it. |
